Online Kick-off of the Research Program " Modern China Research" of the BMBF

26 March 2022

On March 17, the DITAC team participated in the online kick-off of the BMBF research program " Modern China Research" . The BMBF funding measure "Modern China Research" contributes to a sound and up-to-date knowledge base on the Chinese science, research and innovation landscape. Its aim is to broaden our understanding of the diverse and complex interrelationships and chains of effects in China and their significance for Germany and Europe. With a broad knowledge of the Chinese innovation system and the associated social framework conditions, cooperation at eye level and with mutual added value is to be promoted.

At the program kickoff, 13 research projects from a wide range of disciplines were represented, including projects on innovation policy, corporate policy, education/universities, infrastructure, freedom of science, digital transformation and chemical recycling. During the kickoff, synergies among these projects and common current challenges in China research were discussed. Prominent topics were in particular strategies to address project risks such as the travel restrictions still in place, as well as successful data strategies.
