Interview with DITAC Researcher in China Daily

As part of our farm data collection last year, initial results have now been published in the "China Daily", China's largest English-language newspaper. As part of the "Expert Views" series, IAMO researcher Lena Kuhn was interviewed about the contribution of digitalization to the productivity and efficiency of Chinese agriculture. According to initial analyses of farm data by the DITAC team, the level of diffusion of digital hardware and software among Chinese farmers has been low so far. Important factors in the diffusion of the relevant technologies are obviously the small farm sizes and land fragmentation, but even more the low level of education and digital know-how among producers. Just as in Germany, it will be important to strengthen digital skills in the future, according to Dr. Kuhn.
